love: boots and booties

photos from brantano, j. crew, and mine

it's spring and you're probably asking: why in the world is she still talking about boots? one word- okinawa. in a few months, we'll be moving to okinawa, and if you're familiar with the small friendly island, they get their fair share of not just rain, but typhoons! not that you'll see me walking around outside in the middle of a typhoon, but this woman will need some rain boots! j. crew has a really cute one, appropriately named "weatherby" that comes in red, but i'll probably opt for their navy blue or black...though i may surprise myself and go with a red one! i just like the pop of red in the middle of the dark colors above.

my favorite boots of all time are my fryes "melissa button" boots- the ones i'm wearing in the picture. i wore them practically every day while we were in ireland a year ago- here, here, and here! my other go-to booties were black, which remind me of the black ones above. i wore them here and here. i'm not very tall so i like to wear black booties with black tights/leggings or dark jeans so my legs aren't as defined. ha! the brown boots above can look great with jeans or shorts! if you like the brown and black boots, you can buy them from brantano. they have a great selection and some are even on sale so check out their website!

what's your favorite boots or booties? thanks for visiting!

no line on the horizon

this was a simple and comfortable outfit i wore on a nice cool morning in dublin. we were leaving to pick up our rental car that morning, but we were out and about early to get some last minute shopping done. on our walk, we passed by the garden of remembrance, which has a huge water art shaped into a cross, and the tulips were beautifully in bloom.

i actually found a "thrift" store in dublin and found this topshop polka dot top/vest. the store is called 9 crows or 9 crow street, cleverly named after its street address. the vintage store allows you to sell your own chic/stylish clothes and enjoy some shopping at the same time! the i put it over a sheer top i bought from j crew eons ago! the black booties (no boots today) are from nordstrom rack. i love to buy clothes at a bargain! the scarf is from the boutique i love going to in orange county. the owner of the boutique is very down-to-earth, and it's always exciting to see what new things she has in her store.

enjoy your day! xx

oh, it is love

the title of this is post from the band hellogoodbye from their zombies! aliens! vampires! dinosaurs! album. the music has a nice airy, clean, easy way about - simple. just like this blouse i'm wearing. the blouse is one of my buys from a-wear while in dublin and fell in love with it when i saw it. i wore it on our visit to kilkenny castle, which is fitting (no fun intended), as this blouse reminds me of a romantic look. the purse is a cole haan satchel and was my universal purse while on our trip.

if you ever have the opportunity to go to ireland, kilkenny is a fantastic town to stay overnight on your way from dublin to any part of the western or southwestern part of ireland. we stayed overnight on our way from dublin to rock of cashel and dingle. we stayed at the lovely pinecrest b&b. our hosts, helen and liam, are two of the friendliest hosts we have ever met. helen recommended a lovely restaurant called the marble city bar, which has a cute tea room on the first floor and the bar/restaurant is on the second floor. the food at the restaurant hit the spot and after driving (and getting lost) finding the place :), we were ready to call it a night! xx
